AmericanStyle Magazine Suspends Publication

AmericanStyle magazine, one of the few consumer magazines in the United States celebrating contemporary fine craft and craft collectors, has suspended publication and is seeking a buyer, its publishing company announced in a letter to subscribers.

Launched in 1994 in Baltimore by The Rosen Group, AmericanStyle gave art lovers in-depth articles about collectors of fine craft and the galleries, fairs, festivals and museums they frequent. For longtime subscribers, the magazine has been a barometer of what’s new and what’s collectible in artist-designed jewelry, art glass, fiber art, collectible teapots, art furniture and sculptural ceramics.

Travel and tourism officials nationwide have also recognized AmericanStyle for promoting awareness of the economic and aesthetic contributions that art and craft bring to communities. Annually since 1998, cities have vied for a spot in the AmericanStyle Top 25 Arts Destinations readers’ poll, which ranked locales frequented and beloved by collectors and cultural travelers. A second poll annually identified the nation’s top art fairs and festivals.

The last issue printed was AmericanStyle’s 2012 Fall Arts Preview edition. The e-newsletter has been suspended as well. The magazine will maintain its articles archive at its website,, and back issues will be available for sale while supplies last.
